Volunteer With Us to Make a Difference
Help change our community and the world
Habitat for Humanity
We sponsor homes for low income families in Bridgeport where, for over six years, we have helped these families afford a better place to live. Every second Saturday of the month, a team of volunteers meets at 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot of our church and carpools to Bridgeport to build houses for Habitat for Humanity. We’re usually back in New Canaan at 4 p.m. In addition, you can work half days, either in the morning or in the afternoon. We do all types of work like building walls in the warehouse, erecting walls on the construction site, hammering floors, and installing windows, siding, and baseboards. We also paint, build fences, and do yard work. Our team works with experienced construction managers along with the future homeowners. Learn more about Habitat for Humanity.
In the bitter cold of winter or the sweltering humidity of summer, our teams gladly drive a van to the streets of New York City and bring appropriate seasonal items to our brothers and sisters who find themselves without the simple necessities of life. UMC of NC sponsors five Midnight Runs each year thanks to the many volunteers who donate clothing, sort and label the donations, and then deliver toiletries, food, and clothing to the homeless in New York City. Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels is a program that delivers freshly made meals to individuals at their home who are unable to purchase or prepare their own meals.
Volunteer to prepare the meals or deliver the meals. Both opportunities are both fun and rewarding.
