We sponsor homes for low income families in Bridgeport where, for over six years, we have helped these families afford a better place to live.  Every second Saturday of the month, a team of volunteers meets at 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot of our church and carpools to Bridgeport to build houses for Habitat for Humanity.  We’re usually back in New Canaan at 4 p.m.  In addition, you can work half days, either in the morning or in the afternoon.  We do all types of work like building walls in the warehouse, erecting walls on the construction site, hammering floors, and installing windows, siding, and baseboards.  We also paint, build fences, and do yard work.  Our team works with experienced construction managers along with the future homeowners.

You don’t need to be handy or skillful to participate.  You also do not need to be a church member to team up with us.  We encourage participation from volunteers of all ages — from high-schoolers to golden-agers, both men and women.  In addition to supporting a great cause, it is also good fun with a lot of camaraderie.  Interested?  Contact team leaders:  Rich Townsend (203-644-0014) or Pastor Eric Fjeldal  (203-530-2780).
