Rev. Matthew T. Curry

Until becoming our new pastor, Rev. Curry worked on the Bishop’s staff.  As the Director of Connectional Ministries (DCM), he was the steward of the vision of the annual conference;  a leader of the process of transformation and renewal; was responsible for alignment of resources, and overseer of the connectional ministries of New York Annual Conference, connecting local, district, annual conference, and general church ministries, as well as instrumental in planning the annual conference sessions.  Prior to assuming that role, Matt was the lead pastor of Grace United Methodist Church of Valley Stream, NY.  Before that, he served as pastor of the UMC of Mount Kisco, NY and as associate pastor of Mamaroneck UMC.  He earned a BA in music from Emory University and a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School.  In 2012, he was granted an MA in Organizational Psychology and Change Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.  His research project for this degree was “Improving Engagement in the United Methodist Church.”

Pastor Matt lives in Katonah, NY, with his wife Maria and their three children, Lily (17), Thomas (8), and Charlie (4).  They are excited to be part of the UMC of New Canaan.

Brian Zuro

Director of Music Ministry, Brian Zuro, has been at our church since 1997. Brian holds undergraduate degrees in both organ performance and biology from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Oberlin College. While at Oberlin, he performed in numerous ensembles, was a featured soloist in NPR’s program, Pipe Dreams, and was a member of the varsity football team. Following Oberlin, Brian received his MA in music from Yale University where he studied at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. In addition, he holds a law degree from Fordham University where he was inducted to the Order of the Coif.  Brian has served in numerous churches, and when not playing music, he is a practicing attorney. Brian and his wife, Sarah, are the active parents of three children and two beagles.


Cathy Mishkin

Cathy currently serves as the Coordinator of Children’s Music. Cathy grew up in Kansas City and received a degree in Music from Avila College.  She moved to Connecticut when she married her husband, Richard. She went on to study the humanities and received her MAH from Manhattanville College. She was employed by New Canaan Country School as the Director of Lower School Music and worked at Low-Hewood Thomas as the music teacher for grades 4 through 12. In 1979, with the birth of their first child, Sam, Cathy became Chair of the Music Department, Dean of Students, and a history teacher at King Low-Heywood Thomas. She remained in that position for 40 years. In the summer, Cathy teaches music at Horizons Summer Enrichment program hosted at New Canaan Country School. Cathy is active in the arts and has served as president of the board of Pro Arte Singers and is currently on the board for Summer Theater of New Canaan. She also oversees community service in the Upper School at King and has travelled to New Orleans, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica on service learning trips. Cathy has been on the staff at the UMC of New Canaan for over twenty years. She and her husband, Richard, have three adult children and four delightful grandchildren.

Rose Ogrinc Krivoshik

Rose is the director for our Junior and Senior High School Choirs and leads our well established youth bell choir, where the focus is on both music and fellowship. Rose grew up in Ohio and received her BS in Management Science from Case Western Reserve University. While there she also received a minor in music from a joint program with the Cleveland Institute of Music, with proficiency in voice and woodwind Instruments.

Rose and her husband, Bill, currently live in Wilton where they raised their three children.  She is a member of the Board of Directors at Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport, CT.  Free time is spent enjoying the company of her children and grandchildren as well as hiking, reading, and playing with their black lab, Henry.


Carol Hammond

Carol  serves as Director of United Methodist Preschool. She joined the preschool staff in 1998 as head teacher in the 5 Day 4’s class and then took on the Directorship in 2008.
Carol graduated from Sacred Heart University with a degree in Psychology and later earned a Master’s in Early Childhood Education from the College of New Rochelle. She continued to work part time as an environmental educator while she and her husband and soul mate, David, raised three amazing children – Daniel, Emily, and Bethany. When she is not at school, she can be found gardening, reading, and enjoying the company of her family and friends around the family table or in the backyard around the fire pit. Working with dedicated educators, young children, and their families gives her a great sense of gratitude and joy followed by a daily dose of inspiration!
